The new “Equal Work, Equal Pay” Law No. 30709, passed on 28 December 2017, prohibits pay discrimination between men and women. Employers must design job category charts according to objective criteria based on the tasks to be performed and the skills required for the position.

Noncompliance will be sanctioned by the labor authority with fines. The new law must be implemented by 28 June 2018, and the labor authority will start monitoring compliance on 1 January 2019.
